Scientists have developed a new serum that could potentially regrow hair in just 10 days, following successful lab tests on mice.
According to international reports, researchers at National Taiwan University created a formula that triggered natural hair growth within days on areas of skin that were mildly irritated.
Professor Sung-Jan Lin, who led the research, explained:
“We noticed that in places where the skin was slightly inflamed, new hair started growing within a few days.”
To test the treatment, researchers shaved the backs of male and female mice and applied a chemical called sodium dodecyl sulfate to create mild eczema. Within 10 to 11 days, new hair began growing on those patches — while untreated areas remained bald.

Professor Lin even tested an early version of the serum on himself.
“I applied fatty acids dissolved in alcohol to my legs for three weeks,” he said. “I was surprised to see visible hair regrowth.”
Experts explained that the serum works by activating fatty immune cells under the skin, which release fatty acids. These acids are absorbed by hair stem cells, stimulating new follicle formation and regrowth.
Researchers emphasized that the formula is non-irritating and made from natural fatty acids, showing positive results on human hair follicles in lab tests — with no serious side effects reported so far.
However, scientists cautioned that the serum has not yet undergone full human trials. “The next phase of research — clinical testing — will be crucial before it can be approved for public use,” the team said.
