In a major development to ease the energy burden on key sectors, the government is finalizing a three-year electricity relief package that will cut power tariffs by over Rs. 10 per unit for industries and agricultural users, sources told ProPakistani.
The initiative — expected to be formally announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday — will take effect from November 1, 2025, and remain in force until October 31, 2028.
Under the plan, discounted electricity rates will apply to additional consumption, encouraging higher production and efficient energy use.
Officials said the move aims to lower production costs, boost exports, and improve industrial competitiveness, particularly for export-oriented and agri-based industries.
The relief package is part of a broader economic strategy to revive industrial output, reduce inflationary pressure, and sustain long-term economic growth.
“This is not just a subsidy — it’s an investment in productivity and job creation,” an official involved in the plan told reporters.
