LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed officials to make Air Punjab operational as soon as possible, emphasizing that the new provincial airline should begin operations with modern, comfortable aircraft acquired on lease.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Lahore, the Chief Minister was briefed on the current progress of the Air Punjab project. She instructed authorities to complete Phase One immediately and ensure all technical and operational standards are met before the airline’s official launch.

🛫 First Flight Route Finalized
According to media reports, the meeting approved the initial flight route between Lahore and Islamabad, which will serve as Air Punjab’s first operational corridor.
The Chief Minister stressed that the airline should provide affordable, efficient, and passenger-friendly services, reflecting her government’s goal of improving travel convenience and boosting economic and tourism activity across Punjab.

CM Maryam Nawaz said the project would strengthen intercity connectivity, reduce travel costs, and help stimulate provincial trade and tourism.
“Air Punjab must symbolize efficiency, comfort, and affordability — a service the people of Punjab can truly be proud of,” she stated.
🚆 Progress on Murree Glass Train Project Also Reviewed
During the same session, officials also reviewed the Murree Glass Train Project, designed to promote eco-tourism and scenic travel in northern Punjab.
The Chief Minister directed departments to accelerate implementation and ensure timely completion of all project milestones.

Officials noted that the government aims to position Air Punjab as a regional carrier, providing high-quality service standards and supporting domestic tourism and business travel.
