The Lahore Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown on one-wheeling, announcing that First Information Reports (FIRs) will now be registered against individuals seen performing or promoting the stunt on social media.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Athar Waheed, said on Friday that the department’s Cyber Patrol Wing is monitoring social media platforms around the clock to identify offenders.
“The glamorization of one-wheeling on social media will not be tolerated,” Dr. Waheed said, adding that violators will face strict legal action under Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance directive.
📹 Social Media Under Watch
Dr. Waheed confirmed that a recent FIR was filed after a viral video showed a boy and a girl performing dangerous stunts on a motorcycle in Lahore.
He said this policy aligns with the Punjab Inspector General’s instructions to all police units to curb the deadly trend through technology-driven enforcement.
Calling one-wheeling a “game of death”, the CTO said that the practice has resulted in numerous fatalities and life-altering injuries, leaving families in deep distress.
🏫 Awareness Campaign in Schools and Colleges
To address the issue at its roots, the Lahore Traffic Police’s Education Wing has launched an awareness campaign in schools and colleges. Officers are conducting sessions to educate young people about the life-threatening consequences of one-wheeling.
Parents and teachers are being urged to discourage their children from engaging in such reckless acts.
⚠️ Legal Warning for Social Media Users
Dr. Waheed also cautioned social media influencers and users against sharing or promoting one-wheeling videos to gain followers or views, warning that such actions could lead to legal consequences.
He reiterated that the Lahore Traffic Police, under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, is working 24 hours a day to ensure public safety and enforce traffic laws.
